19 Jun Linux hosting won't connect php files to mysql Posted by Alex MacMillan | Product: Job Listing Script | 2 Comments
After taking advise from my hosting company I switch from windows to linux, and now nothing works (I'm running Job Listing and Contact Form Generator).

The Job Listing script only returns {APP_TPL} on the relevant pages, and also will not let me log into the admin section any longer. The Contact Form script will not connect to the database (mysql) even after a successful re-install, it returns 'Unable to connect to MySQL server'.

Previously everything connected to the mysql database on windows hosting and results were sent to the web pages, now nothing connects at all. I haven't changed anything since the migration.

Does anyone have any issues running linux hosting, I'm considering moving back over to windows if there isn't a solution. The only reason I migrated was due to not getting the email contact form generator working on my original server.

Are the scripts compatible with Linux hosting?

The scripts are definitely compatible with Linuix hosting. My preference is always for Linux hosting, and the classic LAMP setup (Linux, Apache, MySQL & PHP) is used by literally millions of sites.

I set up a contact form on Linux this morning in about 10 minutes, straight-forward and worked out of the box.

Yes, the scripts are compatible with Linux hosting. Perhaps some server paths have been changed with the update and this is causing the issues. If you keep having issues then please send us a support ticket with FTP details to check your script installations.
