property Members Area & Paypal payment

Hi I am building a property portal where home owners can sign up for free and they can click a button to add their property to the website, but I am struggling with how I would let them insert the property, then pay by paypal and then only on paypal success does the property get activated.
Do I use cookies, or a session to store detailsdoes any thing have to be passed through paypal and how do I stop the success page being accessed by people who have not already paid.
I am scractching my head on this one
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

what you can do is to pass users ID via the return URL in your paypal payment form. When users return back to your website (a PHP script) you will have their ID and will be able to change their status.
Paypal have a method of transaction confirmation where you can check if they really completed the payment and not just followed the link back to your website.
